Our Learning Center
Teaching, Loving, and Nurturing brings out a Happy Sprouts!

Dear Parents:
Welcome to the new school year at Happy Sprouts! The teachers and I have an exciting year planned for your child with a new preschool curriculum, field trips and fun! This letter will provide you with information about our new curriculum as well as some business details that are very important. In the packet provided, you will find literature about the new curriculum, important changes to our policies, specific fee information, and documents for your review and signature. Please see the attached forms for more detailed information.
Our curriculum is called The InvestiGator Club, Prekindergarten Learning System, , an early childhood program approved by the Maryland Department of Education. The Program’s philosophy relies on child-centered learning, using a child’s natural curiosity. "Purposeful Inquiry," the heart of The InvestiGator Club, “places children in the scientist role, where they can learn to use their senses, ask questions, and find answers in a supportive, print-rich environment.” [ The InvestiGator Club © Robert-Leslie Publishing website: http://investigatorclub.com] Our 3-year-old program will be adapted to meet the needs of the 2-year-old program in a developmentally appropriate manner. The 4 and 5-year-old program contains rich content and is age appropriate as well.
The InvestiGator Club, Prekindergarten Learning System, focuses on the areas of social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development and it promotes the following critical domains of learning:
“language development, literacy, mathematics, science, creative arts, social and emotional development, physical health and development, social studies, and technology.”
We have two Parent / Teacher conferences each year: one in the Fall and Spring. At that time, we will review your child’s development in the areas of play style, social, language, cognitive, and physical development. These conferences offer an opportunity to discuss vital areas of your child’s development. Early childhood is a time of rapid growth in all these areas and it is important to work together to provide goals to address the needs of your child. Communication between us is extremely important not just at the conferences but all year.
Finally, please provide us with an extra pair of clothes to be placed in his/her cubby. Please remember to bring a book bag this year to transport items to and from the Center.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, feedback, or comments about the Center. We look forward to the school year and in working with you to help your child grow and learn!
